Lord Sardar Singh – Director and President
Lord Sardar Singh was amongst the first turbaned uniformed customs officers to be posted at Heathrow in the early seventies. Today, Lord Singh is CEO of Lovell Properties Limited, which deals in buying, selling and property consultation in London with an impressive real estate portfolio. He holds an honorary doctorate from a US University and occasionally indulges his acting hobby having appeared in soap operas and TV shows.
Mustafa Erdem – Director and Vice President‘
Mustafa is an architect and has worked on a variety of education projects including Primary, Secondary and Higher education sectors as well as several community and regeneration projects. He was also involved in the production of various masterplans. Mustafa has several years of work experience as an Architect, Urban Designer and Landscape Architect.
Christopher Durkin – Director and Vice President
Chris Durkin enjoyed a fifty year career.
The first part commenced with seven years in high end mechanical engineering as an indentured apprentice. This was followed by a complete change to become a Reinsurance Broker in Lloyd’s of London. One time owning his own Broking firm and also as MD of a Lloyd’s Broker.
Chris is now retired and looking to put back into business the knowledge he gained in a long and fruitful working life.
Bobbie Basra – Director and Vice President
Dr Prabhjot Kaur Basra (Bobby) lives in Hounslow and is the Regional Partnership Director for London with a major telecommunications company. She has a broad based career in business management ranging from implementation of quality programmes to stakeholder engagement and communication, business and resource planning, business development, commercial contract management and governance, and project and programme management, and implementing CSR initiatives. Bobby is a Justice of the Peace, West London Area, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Relate London South West. She is an active member of the community and volunteers at the local Sikh Gurdwara in Hounslow undertaking a variety of roles. She also volunteers at a local radio station presenting shows broadcasting locally from West London to the Asian and Panjabi speaking communities. Bobby holds the following qualifications: JP, PhD, MBA, Certificate of Teaching Skills, Post Graduate DMS, FIAP, FIMIS.
Gurmail Dhaliwal – Director and Vice President
Chris Greenwood – Director
Chris Greenwood is the managing director of MAPMECHANICS, a Brentford based company, specialising in mapping and logistics optimisation for businesses around the world. After studying physics he took a research degree in plasma fusion and then joined PerkinElmer, a US BioTechnology company, to develop a range of analytical instrumentation. At MAPMECHANICS his skills in innovation and the application of technology to mapping and logistics have been instrumental in the company’s success. Chris has also managed a number of significant key sales including the introduction of a new mapping system for Experian and a sophisticated prescription and drug delivery solution for Boots. Chris is a Citizen Scientist helping research into eel migration and enjoys sailing.
Rafiq Chohan – Board Member
Rafiq is an experienced business adviser having been trained by Warwick and Durham University Business Schools and has advised mainly growth potential and growing companies over the years. He has helped businesses in business planning and strategy, people management, markets and marketing, operational and financial management. Rafiq also spent 15 years in local government as a senior manager responsible for economic development and was Vice Chair of the Chief Economic Development Officers Society representing 60 unitary and county authorities and was Chair Elect in 2010 before taking early retirement from local government in early 2011. He is also a Governor at East Berkshire College one of the UK’s largest and most successful colleges and a board member of the Slough Business Community Partnership. He has a particular interest in employment and the development of skills to support growth and competitiveness.
Alan Rides – Director and Chairman
Alan started his export career in Metal Box PLC export shipping department in West Acton, progressing to Diageo export customer services department in Regents Park dealing with global exports. Alan is well used to export documentation and banking presentations.
Since graduating from the Institute of Export at West Thames College he has been a front line export salesman across Africa, Asia and the Middle East for 25 years working for UK Export trading companies with manufacturing arms who set up local successful offices and dealerships for UK companies.
These include many blue chip firms including JCB, Rolls Royce, Terex, Land Rover, Hyster, Carrier plus multiple SME’s across the business spectrum.
This propelled Alan’s career to Director level as sales grew from $5m to $140m and local offices were set up in 4 overseas markets then on to set up his own Consultancy and be an International Trade Adviser with UKTI.
Mike Moran – Board Member
Alan spent over 30 years with United Biscuits, 18 of which was as a Board Director. He specialised in Sales and Marketing, as well as manufacturing and corporate affairs.
He recently resigned as Chairman at Park Royal Partnership, where he completed 9 years in the post which now allows him more time to focus his role as Director at Knowledge Peers. Knowledge Peers is a directors network with a difference, providing practical guidance on business issues to established businesses, typically with revenues of £1m to £100m.
He is a Trustee of the John Lewis Partnership Foundation, the BAA Foundation and the charity Fareshare, Chair of the Ealing and Hillingdon Educational Business Partnership.
